The Top 3 Money-Making “To Do” Activities
By Jimmy D. Brown
www.HomepreneurHabits.com

I’ve always been impressed with those who can take overwhelming
things and handle them with ease and poise. It never seemed
to work that way for me, until I discovered the secret for
tackling those daunting tasks.

The secret is simple: make things simple!

With just about every major undertaking, things can be simplified
into a handful of “core” components. That makes them manageable.
Manageable fosters productivity simply because I can work on
something that seems accomplishable. And when productivity goes
up, desired results come.

I received the following question from one of my clients…

“If you have to pick, what would you say are the top 2 or 3
things we should concentrate on? I’ve heard the
domain/site(blog) are the most important, then others say
writing info products, others say lists. For short term and
long term investment, what is the most important things to
be working on?”

This client wants things simplified. And rightly so. He knows
the secret to success is getting things down into manageable
chunks.

So, what are these core practices for building an internet
business? There are three things – and three things only – that
you need to concentrate on with your business…

1. Offer Development.

You cannot make money online unless you have an OFFER. It’s that
simple. Unless there is some way for income to be generated, you
can’t get paid. End of discussion. Every business is founded
upon a revenue-generating offer. Now, this can either be your
own offer (small reports, ebooks, membership sites, coaching/consulting,
advertising, etc.) or something you promote as an affiliate and
earn revenue for referred sales.

2. List Marketing.

The fortune is in the list. You’ve heard it an untold number of
times in the past, right? Building and profiting from opt-in lists
should be a major priority on your schedule. You need to devote
yourself to attracting new subscribers and then getting all of
your subscribers to spend money with you … by purchasing your
OFFERS (see #1 above).

3. Traffic.

The third and final thing you need to concentrate on is “traffic”.
This includes both traffic GENERATION (getting visitors to a site)
and traffic CONVERSION (getting that traffic to buy). This includes
things like: starting an affiliate program, buying PPC ads,
participating in joint ventures, utilizing viral marketing tools,
raising your visitor value, tweaking your sales pages, etc.

With each of these categories, you have a variety of options to choose
from in directing your attention. It would be foolish for me to say
“grow your affiliate program” as your number # traffic activity since
I don’t know if you even have your own product to sell. That’s why I
don’t recommend specific activities, but rather three key categories
of business-building.

With each of these categories, find 2-3 activities to work on each
week and you should see results in a short amount of time.

I recommend you work on offer development every Monday, list marketing
every Tuesday, and traffic generation every Wednesday. If you just
spend a couple hours each of these days working on these core parts
of your business, sales should come.

In a nutshell -

- Find an offer to promote.
- Setup a list to promote the offer.
- Drive traffic to the list opt-in page.

Keep it simple. Keep it successful.

—————-

You want to start your persuasive writing now. You’ve been convinced that writing is easy. You’ve been made to understand that the potential income is huge.

Yes, you want to start right here. Right now.

The problem: What to write about? Where to begin?

The good news is, you are not alone. Many people who want to write have these questions in mind. There are more questions to follow but these two are always among the top three.

Let’s go straight to the answer.

What to write about?

You write about what you want to read. Ask yourself “what is it that you want to read about right now?”

Step 1
Develop a series of questions on what question you want to be answer about a particular topic. Start with biggest question first. And then keep on questioning and developing your question. With that you are developing your content by answering those questions later.

Step 2
Restructuring your questions. Choose the most important three questions. These questions will provide you with three important points about what you are going to write.

Step 3
Filter the rest of the questions. Some of them may be used as sub-question to the three that’s been chosen in step 2. Some of them may not relevant at all. You may delete them.

Step 4
Develop your three points above by answering the question you’ve been chosen in Step 2. Choose the most attractive sentence as the first sentence. Make your point clear and persuasive.

Step 5
Develop evidence. Support your points with evidence. The evidence gives authority to your points. By giving evidence, you show to your reader that you really mean business. You are writing about something true.

Step 6
Give relevant example to each point. This is to make your point clearer. Most importantly, example makes your points interesting.

Step 7
Tell your reader what you want them to do after read your persuasive writing. Ask them to take action. State clearly what you want them to do. Tell them also what your reader will miss if she didn’t take action.

Conclusion: You start writing by asking yourself what is it that you want to read.

Additional Tips: Go to any bookstore. Your subconscious mind will lead you to your favorite section. That is what you can start writing about.

We work day in day out to ensure our dream comes through. We work to realize our plan. We work for the compensation to support our daily need. We work for the future we are dream of. We work to satisfy our needs.

However, what we are working on always comes with various results. Some of the works are done perfectly. Some of the works need final touch-up. While for some of the works you wish you are not doing it at all.

Some of the works are awaiting others’ action to finish it. There’s nothing much you can do since you’ve done your part.

Some of the work cannot be done because of you. Others done their part but when it comes to your turn, it gets stuck. You are solely to be blame for that matter. And yes, it’s your fault.

To most people this is very painful. Never mind if we cannot do the work. We can always ask others to help. Never mind if there is no result as along as we have done all we could. Never mind if the work was failed because of others. It is none of your business. You cannot worry about the whole world.

But, if you are the one who cause the problem and you know it very well, the feeling is so different. For me, it is very painful to face this situation. Very few people want to become the one who cause the problem. Majority people want to become the problem solver: not the one who causes the problem.

Most people can take it if they fail in their venture. But the one who cause the failure suffer the most. This situation where “ I rather die in the accident rather than the one who cause the accident and killed those person in the other vehicle” is real. The feeling is not fun and you wish you are someone else. You wish the problem is not caused by you.

The reality: you will face this situation, like it or not. When? Nobody knows. One thing for sure is you would.

You are not intending to be bad. If you know it, for sure you will not doing anything that can cause such problem. You try to convince those affected with all sort of excuses. In reality, you try to comfort yourself that what you are doing is not that bad.

Understand: You are an ordinary human being. You and me are so rich of emotion. This situation is highly emotional. Therefore it is not something that is easy to endure.

Those who are affected by the situation are highly emotional too. Another challenge is to go through emotional flood of many involves. Including yours.

How to go through it?

There are Four Steps you need to work on:

Absorb the blow. This is no fun at all. But you have to do it. Yes, it is painful, emotionally. But you have no other ways because the next choice is to flee. But where? Absorb the blow by accept whatever the reaction of the failure. Don’t try to defend yourself. Get fainted if you have too. Apologize even if you have to say “I’m sorry” for gazillions of times. Control your emotion. Better still; “switch off” your emotional radar. Go back home, take a shower, and then go to bed: sleep. Nothing much you can do. After all, God will take away your sorrow after twenty-four hours. Really.

Pray. Talk to God. He is the Creator. He is the one who create you, me and the rest. He knows what is happening. In fact He is the one who plan and doing all this. If He is the one who create you and me, then rest assure that He is the one who behind all this. He wants you to learn something from it. Something that will mould you as you are growing. The very clothes you are wearing fifteen years ago are surely not fit on you now. So are the lessons you need to get through.

Continue what you are doing. The very last thing God want you to do is to quit. And that is also the very first thing your enemy want you to do. If you are working in a company, don’t rushing to your boss’s office with resignation letter. Let him decide if he has to fire you. That is his problem. Not yours. Continue doing your work. If you are in business venture, sit down and re-strategize. Think of the next move. Think of how you can get rid off “the ashes”.

Learn from it. You are facing this situation because you need to learn something. Anything that doesn’t kill you will make you stronger. The best lesson is always the one that leaves behind the most scars.

Understand: Nobody want to become the one who is the source of problem. Not you. Not me. But day in day out we are doing something that may cause problem to others in the future.

We wish we are not doing what we’ve done five years ago. We wish we are not meeting that fellow three months ago. Else we are not in this trouble. But what we wish always come in opposite direction. The keyword is “learn”.

Conclusion: What you are doing now may cause problem to someone else in the future. Deal with it wisely. Follow the four steps above then you’ll be fine.

Final reminder: You and me have to go through this.

The fortune is in the list.

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard that said, well, I’d already have a fortune!

However “broken-recordish” it may sound, it is a truthful statement. The fortune REALLY IS in the list.

Fact is, if you possess the knowledge of how to grow and profit from opt-in lists, you can pretty much write your own ticket.

And, if you’ll read the remainder of this article, I’ll pass that knowledge right on to ya.

It comes down to getting folks to do four things…

1. REQUEST. First things first, you need to convince people to “opt-in” to your list. That is, get them to join your list of their own free will.

Usually, this involves giving away a mini-course, report or newsletter from your web site. All you need is..

- An Attention Grabbing Title. (I could have chosen “4 Keys to Successful Email Promotions” for this article, but is that as attention-grabbing as “How to Pull in As Much Profit As Your Wallet Will Hold From Opt-In Lists”?)

- A Handful of Bulleted Benefits. (A short list of 4-6 desirable things subscribers will learn if they join your list. Think “what’s in it for me?”)

- An Opt-In Submission Form. (Your autoresponder system will provide this for you.)

NOTE: The BEST way to get folks to join is to embed the above mentioned items DIRECTLY in the most prominent place you have your site visitors’ attention. Usually this is 3-5 paragraphs into your sales letter or 1/3 of the way into an ezine article.

2. RECEIVE. After visitors to your site have “requested” information by joining your list, it’s critical that your emails be delivered successfully to their inbox. With all of the filters in place (among other hazards) this can be quite a chore.

One thing you’ll want to do for certain is check your SPAM rating to make certain it’s in an acceptable range. Again, most of the better autoresponder services offer this feature for you.

You can also do things like…

- Get your subscribers to “approve” mailings from you.

- Authenticate yourself as a legitimate mailer when you receive a “response challenge” from protection services such as Spam Arrest.

- Use alternative formats of your email messages such as “downloadable email messages” in PDF format.

3. READ. When your emails successfully arrive at the inboxes of your subscribers, another task awaits – getting them to actually open your message and read it.

This is going to depend upon your “subject line”. It is paramount that your subject line be intriguing enough to convince your readers to stop what they are doing and take a look inside.

One way to get this done is to create a swipe file of email subject lines that have convinced YOU to read the messages and then modify those subject lines for your own use.

Ex. I received an email that had the subject line of “This affiliate tip is almost too easy” that caught my attention and forced me to read the associated message.

This subject line could easily be used in a variety of different niches…

- This dieting tip is almost too easy
- This time management tip is almost too easy
- This marriage saving tip is almost too easy

4. RESPOND. When you have convinced your subscribers to open your email message and read its contents, the only remaining “task” is to get them to respond.

You want them to take action. Click a link. Go somewhere. Ultimately, spend money with you.

The only way you’ll be able to do this is follow a simple catch phrase I’ve been teaching for years: “useful, but incomplete”.

It simply means this: your messages must provide content that is useful to your subscribers (otherwise, they’ll unsubscribe faster than you can say “oops”!), but is also “incomplete” in that there is some additional offer that could enhance or maximize that content.

Ex. You might write an article that shares “7 Ways to Profit With Autoresponders” to send to your list. That’s “useful” information to those who are interested in that particular topic. It’s also “incomplete” because they need an autoresponder service to put the information into action. That’s your cue to promote your recommended autoresponder service.

See how it works?

If you want to pad your wallet with profits by using opt-in lists, this is how you do it:

Get people to do these four things

- Request
- Receive
- Read
- Respond

This is a system that has never failed, will never fail. I’ve used it. Others have used it.

Now, it’s your turn to use it.

——————————

For the first time, ever, Jimmy D. Brown is sharing his simple, yet powerful 6-step system that will show you how to grow your list, provide your readers with the content they crave and start making more money than you ever expected from your list.

The paramount objective of persuasive writing is to persuade your reader to do the very action you desired.

However, too focus on your persuasion will easily turn your reader away. Instead of associate herself with you, she ran as fast as she can away from you.

We need to balance the need to persuade her and the benefit she will get by being associated herself with you. Focus too much on taking her money will make you end up not making a single cent.

Your ability to balance your persuasive writing and benefits you provided determine your success.

Do not bombard her endlessly with offer after offer. Send her email that is not promoting any product. Send her those encouraging messages. There are lots of motivation messages circulating around. Forward some good ones to her. Do it without any string attached.

If you find some amazing facts in the internet, share it with your reader freely as you will share it with your well known friends. After all, she is your friend.

Your reader, like you and me are ordinary human being. There are times when we need to be encouraged by others. Sometimes we hate people sending promotional message so much until we click the unsubscribe link straight away. You do not want to lose your reader that way.

Your reader thrust you as an expert of your topic. She is not looking at you as marketer. Therefore you need to minimize the promotional email messages.

Yes, it is true that the very reason your get her email in your opt-in page is to enable your to promote your products. It is essential in your internet marketing. It is the only way you can make money

The problem comes when you overdo it. Sending email telling your reader “you got to have this” or “you got to have that” everyday will make your reader hate you.

That doesn’t mean that you should not sending promotional email to your reader. You still have to do it.

Therefore the keyword here is “balance”. You need to balance the need to make money and the need to give value to your reader.

Probably, out of 5 messages you send to your reader, 1 is promotional email where as the other 4 are informational email. With that your reputation will build up steadily. At the same time you insert your promotional message.

Understand: While people may tolerate persuasion, nobody want to be pushed too hard. It shows that you are trying to control him. Furthermore, it also shows your insecurity and desperation.

Respect is among the most powerful tool in your persuasive writing. See what difference it brings into your writing ideas…

The ultimate goal of persuasive writing is to persuade your reader to take action. The very action you want.

However, you need to respect your reader along the way. Pushing too hard shows your insecurity. It only exposes the ugly side of your desperate motive.

Yes, as a writer you are the master of your topic. But it doesn’t means that you are more superior. As far as humanity is concern, you, me and your reader are equally special. Therefore the element of respect towards one another is vastly important.

Your objective with your persuasive writing is to persuade your reader to take the very action you want. You are not doing this to manipulate her.

You persuade her to take action for good. There must be to her benefit. You are benefiting too, as the byproduct of her benefit.

If you are writing along with this concept, you will produce writing materials that is useful and with good quality. Good intention will produce good product.

You good intention will only be able to translate into good writing ideas if you respect your reader. You do not want your reader to look down at you. Then, you have no choice but to produce good quality persuasive writing.

You will carefully choose your words, phrases and sentences because you do not want to disappoint your reader. You also will tailor your writing into smooth flow because you don’t want to confuse your reader. A confuse reader will not respect you because you are adding to her already confusing life.

Question: How does the reader knows you are respecting her?
Answer: Your writing style will tell.

Your writing style is your personality. It is how you look into the perspective. Your writing style is shown by choice of words, phrases and emphasis. So many negative words show your negative thinking. Too many flattering phrases show your insincerity. Every single word you are using to build your writing are carrying weight in your personality.

There are two things happen if you are tailoring your persuasive writing with respect your reader in mind:

First, your writing is original. You may refer to external source of materials but you re-process the material from your own perspective. You are not blindly using the materials the way you get it. This is very important if you are using Private Label Right (PLR) products.

Second, your reader will recognize your persuasive writing. It is unique. It is written with consideration. Your credibility will build up steadily. This is the “Holy grail” of writing profession.

Keep in mind; you need to respect your reader in your writing. In case you are not really sure where to start writing you may interested to look at “The 30 Writing Ideas For eBook Authors”.

The world’s dynamic only do two things: Drown the weak and uplift the strong.

Understanding the dynamic in persuasive writing is very important to give strong energy to your writing.

Dynamic can simply be summarized as “what connect one thing into another.” It is a pattern of the network that needs to be understood by any writer.

To understand the dynamic, you must look at things from the inside. You blend yourself into the network and swim within it. From the inside, only then you can see and feel the dynamic because you are affected from one angle or the other.

Without swimming inside the dynamic, your writing will become the third person’s write. The best you can write is “the preview”. Being a preview writer, your persuasive writing is limited. The energy is low. Therefore you are almost wasting your time without knowing it.

Note: Most writers wrote from the outside. They are either asking others to write for them or using other’s materials. On the surface, they look professional. However the problem comes when they come up with their next writing. The writing style change dramatically. They even show total inconsistency.

Tips: Knowing this secret alone will make you simply stand taller than others.

Question: How to write from the inside?
Answer: Enter their world. Swim within it.

There is no shortcut to this need. You cannot write from the outside unless you are writing for newspaper. All that you are writing will be merely news.

There are three ways you can enter their world.

First, you need to venture inside. Do the things yourself. Get the first hand experience. Just need to remember that your time, like mine, is limited. We cannot do everything under the sun.

Example: If you are to write about home schooling, you need to become a tutor.

Second, get to know the person who is inside the dynamic. Write from his perspective. Acknowledge that he is the expert. He is the master of the industry. You need to know him inside out. He must be willing to expose enough information for you to write.

Example: If you want to write about becoming a pilot, you need to get to know a pilot. You need to know the dynamic of pilot’s life. Not only when he is in front of a cockpit.

Third, be the one that is affected directly by the issue. You are the one that is affected directly by the environment.

Example: If you are writing to urge the service provider to improve broadband service within certain area, you go to the area and feel the pain due to the poor broadband service.

In any cases of the above three situation, your persuasive writing comes with authority. Your writing will be precise because you are writing what is exactly in front of you.

Writing, by itself is a dynamic process. You need to accept the fact that it is very important to understand what connect one thing into another.

While the world is going into more and more separations and segregations, your ability to write to connect between the separating walls will eventually become your strength. That strength can easily be converted into persuasive writing.

You may try to start writing something persuasive today. In case it is quite difficult to move on (it always do…) you may want to refer to my favorite reference “the 30 Writing Ideas For eBook Authors”. You may not into writing eBook, but the reference is generally for any writing task.

However if you are keen to write eBook and hope to make money out of it you can refer to my reference “5 Steps To A Big Profit Reporting Business”. It is a good place to start.

Create and stand by your unique standard in writing. That standard is a combination of your strength and the readers’ want

The 80/20 rules is applicable everywhere. It is applicable in business, leadership, politic, entertainment, anywhere… you name it.

The same rule applies to persuasive writing.

Question: But how the 80/20 rule works here?
Answer: I’m glad you asked…

Persuasive writing is about your bridging with your reader. There is almost naturally a distance between you and your reader.

You and your reader has the very own standard of yours. You have your own set of thinking system. That’s how you look at the world and things happen around it. Your reader has her own set of thinking system. It was there, building up by all that she is experiencing in life.

Now, which one to look into?

Both. Yours and hers.

First, you look at your thinking on how you look at things from your own perspective. Then you write your persuasive writing point base on your thinking.

Next, study how your reader looks into the matter from her perspective. There is surely some point of hers you can use to build your credibility. Her prospective maybe not clear enough. Her stand maybe not strong enough. She may looking at the matter wrongly. Try to get as close as possible into her mind. Look into her perspective binocular.

This gave you power to maneuvers your persuasive writing. The more you understand your reader the easier for you to persuade her to take action. It is simply because you know which button to press at what time.

All you need to do then is to tailor your writing to suite your reader. Next, inject your own point, preferably the strongest one into your content.

In this situation, there are two important thing happens:

You are writing from the prospective of your reader. What you are writing is something they already aware about. It is not something you just pluck from the sky and put it in front of your reader who will then looking at you in a confusing manner.

You are writing from your own perspective on the matter. You are freely imposing your own standard. It is your own point.

A combination of the two gave you a very powerful persuasive writing. You are writing by knowing what your reader want, and then you inject your own content base on what your reader want.

The very good news is, only 20% writers did it. The remaining 80% are only doing either one of the two suggested above.

They either listen too much to their reader until they fear to bring up their own point. That point can be very persuasive, but they failed to inject into their content.

The other group of writers standing only by their own point. This is normally happens out of ego. They only impose their standard where very little or nobody interested in.

You are about to start writing your ebook but not really sure where to start? That is quite common. Novice writers experience it. Pro writers also experience it once in a while. I experience it also. However I keep refer to “the 30 Writing Tips For eBook Authors” Whenever I get stuck.

I’m in my lowest energy while writing this post today. I’ve experience the first gout attack. Cannot walks.

There are other things that bother me also. Office work. Unsettled business. Outstanding bills here and there.

Not to mention the anxiety my children are facing in their new school. Hopefully they are o.k.

But my left ankle bothers me so much. I cannot even walk for more than ten steps.

I’ve check the internet, it is possibly gout. I will see doctor after this.

I’ve planned to write one blog post daily. That is mandatory. Same with today. I have to share with you my challenge today.

We all dream of smooth sailing in our daily life. Everyday should not has any problem.

However, you and me know very well, that is impossible as long as we are still breathing.

There bound to be something comes across our way. Something that is challenging our day. This is the dynamic that we need to deal with.

In your quest to persuasive writing, the downs in our life can be a very good source of writing ideas.

The frustrations, if channeled properly will inject energy to your persuasive writing. It might be negative energy, however, the most important is, it gives energy to your writing.

You may be able to persuade your reader to feel the pain of none action better when you are in the middle of difficult dynamics. You may even share the very pain of your own.

There are three things might happens if you write during your difficult time:

You are honest. You are not only painting the picture of beauty and joy. You also share the moment of sadness;

You are writing with emotion. The originality of your persuasive writing is easy to create; and

You show to your reader that you, like her is an ordinary human being. It is worth to find out from you how you handle difficult moments in your life.

This three possibilities alone is enough to inject energy into your persuasive writing. Your writing ideas will flow naturally.

Therefore, in the event of difficulty, write your persuasive writing. Do not wait until your mind is full of joy, only then you write. You need to explore the other side of you.

It may be easy to say than done. In case you are still struggle with your writing, you may interest to find out from the very eBook I’m referring i.e. “The 30 Writing Tips For eBook Authors”.

Becoming eBook writer is dream of many. You can be one and may want to start with the reference I’m using to jump start my eBook writing i.e. “The 5 Steps To A Big Profit Reporting Business”. Believe me, it’s easy to use.
