Master Your Topic Well In Persuasive Writing

by kassimjeritan on January 9, 2010

The purpose of your persuasive writing is to encourage your reader to take the very action you want her to do.

Therefore the strength of your writing is external support.

Content of your writing must be strong enough as a foundation for you to make the “push”.

Your content can only be strong if it is properly supported.

The support that you need is in the form of external evidence. Evidence that is not related to you.

Therefore you need to do research on your topic in order to produce good persuasive writing.

Among evidence you can use to support your content are:

  • News. The latest one, if possible;
  • Stories. Popular ones;
  • Statistic. Of course, the most updated;
  • Celebrities/Personalities. The popular the better;
  • Quotients. Use the well known personalities;
  • Anecdotes. Preferably the funny ones;
  • Championship. World class, of course;
  • Biography;
  • Hot events;
  • Movies. A favorite scene in the Box office.

Do your research based on the 10 areas listed above to support your content. The better you can relate to the external support, the stronger your persuasive writing can be.

Where to do the research?

Internet. It is the super super super highway of information. Information about almost anything on earth can be found in the internet.

Remember: Don’t focus too much in your research. Just pick any relevant one and move on. It is not worth to get stuck here.

Caution: Not all information in the internet is true. Do your research with your eyes and mind open.

As a rule of thumb, use one example to support your point. Doing more than that will make your point confusing. Without example, your point is weak.

It is perfectly alright that sometimes we are stuck. Our mind is dry with idea. Nothing can be writing about. That’s o.k. You may want to look at my reference the “30 Writing Tips for eBook Authors” to keep you going.

It is also perfectly o.k. to write 7 to 15 pages eBook as long as it is sellable. You may try it with my reference “5 Steps To A Big Profit Report Business”. You’ll amazed with what you’ve missed all this while…
